Operator Sponsorship Policy: Visibility Without Influence.
Qualified expedition and guiding companies may purchase clearly disclosed promotional visibility on Global Summit Guide. Sponsorship can buy a defined advertising placement. It cannot buy a ranking, recommendation, methodology score, favorable review or protection from future editorial changes.
Sponsorship Buys Advertising. It Does Not Buy a Recommendation.
Global Summit Guide publishes independent mountain-specific operator comparisons and company research. A legitimate operator may also purchase a promotional card or other defined advertising placement alongside relevant research.
The advertisement is displayed separately from independent rankings, carries an obvious paid-content label, and links to the sponsor with qualified paid-link attributes. Editorial scores, rank order, pros/cons and final recommendations remain outside the sponsorship agreement.
A Reader Should Know It Is Advertising Before Mistaking It for a Ranking.
Paid operator placements must be labeled clearly enough that a reasonable reader can distinguish promotional content from GSG’s independent comparison table, scores, verdicts and recommendations.
Sponsored Operator Cards Live Outside the Editorial Ranking.
The commercial unit can describe the advertiser, relevant destinations and services, but it must not visually impersonate a ranked recommendation.
Example Mountain Guiding Company
This demonstration shows the visual structure of a paid operator card. A real sponsor may include its company name, approved logo or photograph, relevant mountain programs, a short factual introduction and a direct website or inquiry CTA.
Demonstration only. This is not a real advertiser, endorsement or editorial recommendation.
rel="sponsored nofollow".
A real sponsor card must remain separate from independent rankings.Fixed Annual Terms. Defined Deliverables. No Lifetime Placements.
The public policy sets the rules. The signed advertising agreement sets the exact price, page, position, dates, creative, payment and remedies for a specific campaign.
| Subject | Global Summit Guide Sponsorship Policy |
|---|---|
| Campaign length | Standard 12-month term with exact start and end dates in the written agreement. |
| Placement | Designated promotional area on the contracted destination, operator or other approved GSG page. |
| Disclosure | Every paid placement is visibly labeled Sponsored Operator or equivalent unambiguous advertising language. |
| Paid links | Sponsored outbound links use rel="sponsored nofollow"; external-link security attributes may also be added. |
| Creative | Approved text, logo, image and CTA are defined in the agreement and remain subject to publisher review. |
| Editorial rankings | Not included in the sponsorship product and never available for purchase. |
| Exclusivity | Not presumed. Any category, destination or page exclusivity must be expressly stated in writing. |
| Payment | Amount, due dates, payment method and any tax documentation are defined before activation. |
| Cancellation | Early termination rights and consequences belong in the signed agreement. |
| Refunds | Refundable amounts, nonrefundable charges and remedies must be documented in writing. |
| Renewal | Requires a new agreement or an expressly agreed renewal process. No lifetime or permanent paid placements. |
| Performance | No guaranteed traffic, impressions, leads, bookings, Google position, editorial rank or expedition outcome. |
The Written Agreement Controls the Commercial Details.
This public policy does not itself create a reservation, payment obligation, automatic renewal, cancellation penalty, refund entitlement, exclusivity right or guaranteed placement. Every sponsorship requires separate agreed commercial terms.
A Mountain-Specific Pilot, Not a Universal Rate Card.
The current public program identifies Kilimanjaro as the initial flagship operator sponsorship market. Other mountains and multi-placement packages are quoted separately.
What the annual placement can include:
- One contracted destination placement.
- A clearly labeled Sponsored Operator card.
- Approved company logo or photograph.
- Approximately 125 words of factual company introduction.
- Relevant destinations, services or program specialties.
- Direct website or inquiry CTA.
- Defined placement and fixed twelve-month campaign dates.
- Written statement of the agreed deliverables.
Everest, Denali, Aconcagua, Mont Blanc, multi-destination and other premium markets may use different pricing or inventory.
Advertising Should Match the Mountain the Reader Is Researching.
A paid placement is more useful when the operator actually serves the destination and the message fits the visitor’s current decision.
Route, Days & Support
A relevant sponsor can describe its Kilimanjaro route portfolio, group/private model and verifiable support approach—not claim that payment made it GSG’s #1 company.
Program-Specific Promotion
Everest advertising may describe program tiers, expedition services and published inclusions while remaining visually separate from GSG’s editorial Everest ranking.
Credentials & Service Model
Promotional copy should accurately describe guiding services, qualifications, ratios and program structure without inventing safety endorsements.
Commercial Benefits Are Defined. Editorial Influence Is Not for Sale.
The firewall is easier to understand when the permitted and prohibited benefits are stated side by side.
Available for Purchase
- Clearly labeled Sponsored Operator visibility.
- Approved company logo, image and factual introduction.
- Relevant destination or service promotion.
- Direct website or inquiry CTA.
- Defined page placement and campaign term.
- Agreed creative updates during the campaign.
Never for Sale
- First place in an editorial operator ranking.
- A higher methodology score or GSG Match Score.
- Guaranteed positive coverage or endorsement.
- Removal of legitimate criticism.
- Guaranteed editorial inclusion or profile publication.
- Protection from a future ranking change.
Paid Copy Must Remain Factual and Appropriate for the Destination.
A sponsor may describe its programs, operating regions, departure models and verifiable credentials. Unsubstantiated claims such as “the world’s safest expedition company” or “the best operator on Everest” may be rejected or revised.
Payment Alone Does Not Guarantee Approval.
GSG may decline or request changes to advertising that is irrelevant, misleading, unverifiable or inconsistent with reader trust.
Company Identity
We may verify official identity, operating location and authority to offer the advertised services.
Destination Relevance
The advertiser should offer a real guiding, expedition or support product relevant to the contracted destination.
Accurate Claims
Guide, price, safety, success-rate and service claims cannot be knowingly misleading.
Media Permissions
The sponsor must have authority to provide the logos, photographs and creative assets submitted for publication.
Transparent Presentation
Advertising may not imitate GSG ranking badges, navigation, safety certifications or independent editorial recommendations.
Publisher Review
Global Summit Guide retains the right to reject, edit, request revisions, suspend or decline unsuitable promotional content.
A Sponsor Can Be #1 Editorially Only If the Evidence Puts It There.
The commercial firewall matters most when GSG already has a strong editorial opinion about a company.
CTSS Is Currently Our #1 Everest Recommendation as an Editorial Decision.
Global Summit Guide has met with Climbing the Seven Summits representatives and reviewed substantial information about the company, its leadership and expedition programs. That research informs the current Everest assessment.
GSG does not claim to have personally joined a CTSS Everest expedition. Direct meetings and document review are different evidence types from firsthand expedition participation.
CTSS cannot purchase that editorial position. The ranking may change if the evidence changes, regardless of any present or future commercial relationship.
Changes, Compliance, Expiration and Renewal Need Clear Rules.
A paid card is not permanent. The contract should make it obvious what can change during the term and what happens when the campaign ends.
Business Details Can Be Corrected
Sponsors may request changes to approved contact details, program facts and creative. Updates remain subject to publisher review.
Material Program Changes Must Be Reported
Operators should tell GSG when advertised destinations, programs, availability or services materially change.
Misleading Advertising Can Be Suspended
Materially inaccurate claims or contractual violations may trigger correction, suspension or other remedies under the signed agreement.
Renewal Is Not Automatic by Default
A placement expires under the agreed term unless the parties enter a new agreement or expressly agree to a renewal process.
A Sponsorship Agreement Creates Advertising Inventory—not a Promise of Bookings.
Expedition travel can involve long decision cycles, seasonal demand and small qualified audiences. GSG can define the placement, term and creative, but it does not guarantee traffic, leads, bookings, search position or climbing outcomes.
How a Sponsored Operator Placement Begins.
The commercial path starts with relevance and availability—not payment before the scope is understood.

Sponsorship Is Not the Same as Editorial Submission or Referral Partnership.
Operators can use more than one path, but each has its own purpose, agreement and disclosure.
Free Company Submission
Provide current operator information for independent consideration. No payment, publication or ranking guarantee.

The public policy explains the governing rules. Each actual campaign still requires its own written commercial agreement.
Can an operator pay to become number one?
No. Ranking positions, editorial scores, verdicts, best-fit labels and independent recommendations are not for sale. Sponsors purchase separately labeled advertising visibility.
How long does a sponsorship last?
The standard sponsorship term is twelve months. Exact start and end dates are stated in the written agreement. Global Summit Guide does not sell lifetime paid placements.
How much does a sponsored listing cost?
The current proposed flagship Kilimanjaro package is $2,400 for a twelve-month term. Other destinations and multi-placement packages are quoted separately and depend on available inventory.
How will readers know the placement is paid?
Every paid operator card must carry a visible Sponsored Operator label or equally clear advertising disclosure and appear separately from independent editorial rankings.
What link attributes are used on sponsor links?
Paid outbound links use rel=”sponsored nofollow”. Other security attributes such as noopener may also be added when links open in a new tab.
Can a sponsored operator also appear in an editorial ranking?
Yes, but only when it independently qualifies under the same editorial standards as non-sponsors. Sponsorship can neither improve nor protect the company’s editorial position.
Does sponsorship guarantee impressions, leads or bookings?
No. GSG does not guarantee traffic, impressions, inquiries, bookings, search-engine position or expedition outcomes.
Can a sponsor require changes to an unfavorable review?
No. Sponsors may submit evidence-backed factual corrections, but they cannot control editorial conclusions, ranking order, criticism or final recommendations.
Is sponsorship automatically renewed?
No. Renewal requires a new agreement or an expressly agreed renewal process and depends on inventory, continued suitability and applicable commercial terms.
What happens if a sponsorship ends early?
Early termination, refunds, nonperformance remedies and treatment of approved creative are governed by the signed sponsorship agreement.
